Al Lewis started out in show business as a vaudeville performer, moving on to the stage and movies. However, Lewis is best know as the writer and director of Our Miss Brooks on radio and on television. Lewis either wrote all of the scripts himself or with his partner Joe Quillan.

In addition to Eve Arden, Lewis wrote for Bing Crosby, The Danny Kaye Show, Sweeney and March, and more.
